With a 175-year legacy of serving the community,The Bear Church has long been a welcoming home in the heart of Deptford,Southeast London.
In Deptford, there is a severe shortage ofmove-on accommodation for people with low or medium support needs who areresettling from homelessness.
Recognising the urgent need for stable housing,Deptford Ragged Trust launched the innovative Ragged Project in partnershipwith J49 Housing, Lewisham Council and Greater London Authority, creating 33socially affordable flats for local young people experiencing homelessness.They were able to do this after planning permission was granted to demolish theexisting building and replace it.
The self-contained accommodation to young peopleaged 18 to 30 on an assured shorthold tenure for three years and provide themwith support to sustain their tenancies. Tenants are supported by , BenchOutreach, which is one of the foremost providers of services to homeless andvulnerable people in Southeast London.
